Domaine de la Cadette
Burgundy, France
In 1987, Jean and Catherine Montanet planted the first vineyards in the village of Saint-Pere, southeast of Vezelay. Harvested fruits were destined to be made under their own cooperative, with the first vintage bottled in 1990. In 1997, the Institut National des Appellations d'Origines had awarded Vezelay its own AOC. Their son, Valentin joined them in 2010, taking over the domaine and carrying for the philosphy of his parents'. The soils is a mixture of clay and limestone with a climate that lends itself to provide generous amounts of sunlight with cool temperatures. The wines at Domaine de la Cadette are as true of an expression as it can get.
