Domaine Julien Meyer
Alsace, France
Patrick Meyer, a farmer-winemaker from Alsace, inherited his vineyards from his mother after his father's passing and he was determined to make the most of it. Initially, he followed the conventional methods of using pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides as advised by his wine school education. However, he soon realized the negative impact it had on the health of the vines and the quality of the wine. He then transitioned to biodynamic principles and now produces some of the most expressive wines in Alsace, with a focus on the lesser-known Sylvaner grape variety. He is passionate about uncovering the unique minerality of his soils and terroirs while preserving the land with great care. His wines are free from added sulphite and made using only the purest methods. His vineyards, located at the foot of the Vosges, are certified by Ecocert and Demeter, and span nearly 10 hectares, featuring 7 Alsatian grape varieties.
