Domaine Mosse
Loire Valley, France
The Mosses farm 17ha of vines organically and biodynamically - most of which are planted with Chenin Blanc. They also grow Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay, Grolleau Gris and Chardonnay. In their area of Anjou Noir (Black Anjou, so-called because of the dark color of the soils of slate and volcanic rocks), the soils are shallow, with subsoils of schist and sandstone, and varying amounts of clay on the surface. They match their efforts and attention to detail in the vineyard with the same in the cellar. Agnès and René have recently passed on the vineyard and winemaking to their sons, Sylvestre and Joseph who are continuing to make wine as with little intervention as possible with very minimal sulfur.
