Strasser Weinberge means the “vineyards’ in ‘Strass”, the fruit for this wine is selected from three of Martin’s vineyards in the village. The wine is a showcase for the typical characteristics of the variety and vineyard soils around the village. Grüner is typically a variety that does not see any wood in its aging and/or fermentation, and here Martin adds just a ‘whisper’ with the percentage he ages in old used barrels to soften a touch Grüner’s incredibly natural acidity. Martin also uses steel barrels to age parts of this wine which change the relationship of the lees to wine ratio.
