Coulée de Serrant

100% Chenin Blanc

Coulée de Serrant is among the very few single vineyards monopole to be granted its own AOC of 7-hectares. Located on very steep slopes overlooking the Loire, the vines are 35 to 40 years old on average. A thin layer of soil is at the bottom of oblique red shale which drains the vines perfectly and the harvest is done 5 times over 3 to 4 weeks, to select the grapes that are most marked by botrytis and the best coloured in terms of maturity. In the winery, only indigenous yeasts are used and fermentation can take up to 4 months to complete. The wine then ages in neutral 500-liter oak barrels; new oak is only implemented to replace very old barrels. Bottled unfined with only a microscopic amount of sulphur is added.
